Loving Marchesa's Designs!

Rachel Zoe is a huge fan of Marchesa and since watching The Rachel Zoe Project, I too have come to love their designs. They use a lot of black and white combined with embroidered patterns and lace. They also incorporate tons of organza, chiffon, and tulle which I LOVE. I've also noticed that frills and bunching of fabric is big in the Marchesa line. So cute. While the black and white pieces are very crisp and sophisticated, they also have some beautiful pastel gowns with lovely frills, and whimsical features.

Marchesa is definetly more friendly to my body type, as Herve Ledger was NOT (they call it a bandage dress for a reason). These are my top Marchesa designs.
And I love their ad photos. So light and angelic how the fabric flows in these unique shots.

Strip My Way To Fitness? Or Not

I have had the 1st and 2nd DVD's of her Aerobic Striptease for over 3 years now, and I think it's finally time to use them. I got into it for a few weeks in 2005, and learned some routines, but like everythis else fitness related that I start - I always give up early on. Even after typing this post, I already don't feel like going through with it :)

The Most Chic Way To Store Data

These is a Swarovski USB memory stick and I so want it. What a cute way to store all my files and pics! It also comes as a heart pendant that splits in two but I love the lock idea! I saw this in person at the Swarovski store in Edmonton. I can get it on Ebay for $178 approx. Too chic for my blood.

French Inspired Decorating!

I would love to have a room or two in my house that is decorated with antique french-inspired pieces. I love the look of brocade and antique patterned wallpaper. I found this amazing site which sells wonderful furniture pieces and accessories. I am in love with everything in their catalogue!

Celebrity Cartoons

I love ya Brit, but this is funny.
I've been scouring the net for more celebrity cartoons like this, but I can't seem to find any.

It Brought A Tear To My Eye

I had my snack-dinner prepared (DQ cotton candy blizzard and fries with gravy) and my blanket and new pup all ready to watch the coverage of the 2008 US Presidential Election and after putting in a load of laundry and tidying up, I sat down with 3 seconds to spare and tuned into NBC.

This is my fav time of the year (or every 4 years to be exact) and I love watching every second of news coverage during election night. This was truly a historic election, no matter what the outcome was.

McCain started out up (which was wctually surprising to me) but then all of a sudden as the 8pm et poles closed, Obama gained over a 100 point lead over McCain which had me worried, but I knew McCain's states were not yet projected, and this would be a long evening. Typical of me, I was too tired at 10:30 and headed off to bed.

I had a small hope that McCain could pull through even after losing a few key states, but sure enough, the 6am news started with announcing that the USA has it's first African-American president: Barack Obama.

While I am a strong McCain supporter because of my morals (and Republican being the Canadian equivilant of Conservative), I am an Obama supporter because of his sincerity, passion, and pride for his country and his new position. This is especially true after watching his acceptance speech this morning on perezhilton.com. I was very very moved. Had I been American, I would be a very proud citizen and proud of the new President. I truly believe he will change the country and affect the world with his leadership.

This Totally Brings Back My Childhood

I remember back when I was about 10, a show would come on TV 1 night a week called Faerie Tale Theatre which has real people acting out famous faerie tales, and I LOVED it. Usually it would air two 30 minute episodes back to back. My mom recorded them for me on good 'ol VHS and over the years I watched them so much that I wore the tape out.

Today I was wondering if the series would ever come on DVD remastered. Well, I came across a box set on amazon.ca! I was so excited, it has 26 episodes (10 of them I have never seen). So I immediatley ordered it and it should be here in 7-10 days! When I see that first episode, I might even shed a tear as I remember sitting in our sunken living room on the couch watching Faerie Tale Theatre!

Paper Planes...UPS Trucks....What?

I first heard "Paper Planes", a poor attempt of a "crossover" song at my Gym in September. I remember hearing bomb sound effects and what seemed to be a "tough-girl" trying to "establish" herself in the 'hood with lyrics that claim endless VISA's in her name, delivering her "goods" in UPS trucks and "weed and bones". Maybe I am missing something, but I don't know where the "paper planes" part becomes relevent other than her claiming to be high. I have read the lyrics and laughed out loud a few times. So with that said....this little "artist" is called M.I.A. Apparently the music world credits her with successfully crossing over into mainstream hip-hop.

After researching a little bit about her, she has a decent story but I still think she is a trainwreck. What seems to be a sweet looking girl has turned into a hardly recognizable woman in the hip hop industry (if you can even give her THAT much). I don't know how anyone can stand listening to her "hit" song with the constant popping of bullets in the backgroung, and what tries to be a "Reggae" style of speech mid-song as she rambles something about democracy in the third world. I then looked into a few other songs she has, and I couldn't even get past the 30 second mark.

So as I was stirring up inside about her and her joke of a song, it reminded me of little miss Britney Spears; she started out young and innocent, and as the years went on she turned into her own trainwreck of an artist. I put together a sequence of pictures with M.I.A on the left and Britney on the right as they progress from young and innocent to crazy and out of control (especially in the last photo).

Work It Angie

I cannot stand this woman or her movies but WOW is that ever a H-O-T photo! The look in her eye and the way she bites on her finger ever so slightly......wow.........wow.......um......yeah.....wow.
This image has almost rendered me speechless.

Covergirl Blast Tropical Fusion and Fire Cracker

I saw this awesome pallet of colors while watching America's Next Top Model Cycle 11 yesterday. While I could never pull off a bold look like this (I like to stick to my brown and cream shadows) I think this is a beautiful color set and looks absolutely amazing on the eye!

In HIS Time

I had a dream last week that we got it, we finally got it! It was incredible! The dream was not so much the event of receiving the email, but the initial entry. We went through and the nice smiling man gave us our stamps, and said "welcome". The feeling was unbelievable, such a relief, joy, weak in the knees, and an outpour of emotion. It felt like winning the lottery or....well, there is no other comparasin feeling I can describe. Bags were unpacked, life was started, and a feeling of renewal, rebirth and permanancy was finally felt. It felt so real. Too real to not eventually happen. It must happen, right Lord? This is our desire.

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass" Psalm 37:4,5

I don't know how the monkey that growled at me when I tried to pet it fitted into the dream, but the beaches and jungles and roads with beautiful trees and animals were overwhelming, as was the amount of love outpoured from people we did not even know. One of the more prominant screen shots in the dream was of a turqouise lagoon will peaks and caves and beautiful white sand.

My husband has a feeling about November 6th, but I am feeling sometime in March. What a great way to celebrate our 2 year anniversary!

In my moments of doubt or worry, I often think of that song "In His Time" and I immediately feel peaceful and know that God is in control, and this will all work out in HIS Time.

The Wonderful World Of Vector Art

This stuff is so crazy and so beautiful!

I was able to get a free copy of Photoshop downloaded onto my new laptop (virus free as well) and I started to work through the online manual to be able to divulge into this creative world. But I got scared off by the technicality of this kind of graphic design, so I put it on the back burner for about 6 months. Well, I think I might be ready to give it a go again. Vector art is so incredible, especially for someone who is as creative as I am. So in order to get my motivation running again, I am going to start collecting images I find online of vector art that I love and store them in my blog.

Oh How I Love Her

I love everything about this ensemble! The sash, the checkered scarf, the cute white sunnies and berret. Actually...I'm not too fond of what she's trying to do with her footwear.....are they black uggs, are they black slip ons, or are they an unhuman extension of her skinny jeans?
