But If I Was......

I know I am not a US citizen, but I love when election time comes around.
Maybe it's something about watching the little images of the states turning red or
blue on the TV screen on decision day, or maybe it's all the drama involved when
2 political parties try to slam each other and all the scandals come out.

Whatever it is, I love the US election coverage and this year has been superb!
Almost having the first female presidential candidate, having the first African-
American candidate, AND all of Sarah Palin's drama has made my TV-viewing
cycle hour at the gym a lot more enjoyable. Thanks CNN :)

Even though I don't know every single issue that each candidate is representing,
I like to think of myself as a hard-core republican (in Canada I am a conservative).
Maybe because I was raised in a Christian home, or because I don't believe that
gays should have the right to marry. Or could it be both of those mixed with wanting
the "underdog" to win? I would love to see the look on the majority of celebrities
faces when the country is "red" yet again.

I am also completely sick of the "comedy" that seems to be found in bashing and mocking President Bush. He was put into office for a reason and I beleive the US needs to have a Republican leader (again, religious reasons).
Regardless of this, I DO believe that John McCain will be a better President than
Obama, and if I were a US citizen, he'd have my vote!

My New Favorite Movie

So back in 2006 a movie came out called "The Holiday". After watching Cameron Diaz in "In Her Shoes" and Jack Black in "Nacho Libre", I had no interest in watching these two actors again. Cameron seems fake to me and Jack's humor is not my taste.

It also didn't help that the only role I can see Kate Winslet in is "Rose" from Titanic, and I didn't want to taint that image.

While friends said it was a great movie, I was not convinced.

Well, this weekend I borrowed the movie from a friend and was determined to sit through it and see what this was all about, after 1.5 years of avoiding these types of romantic comedies.

Now, I don't admit when I am wrong, but BOY WAS I WRONG! The Holiday has now become one of my favorite movies of all time!

I cried my eyes out, you know, the type of crying where your throat shudders and you fear that

suddenly the doorbell or phone will ring and you'll be completely helpless.

As soon as the movie was over and I gained my composure, I called my best friend (who pushed me to see it years ago) and admitted my fault.

This surely was a case of "Don't judge a book by its cover".

My Two Favorite Moments Of The Movie:

1) When Graham and Amanda are in the tent with Sophie and Olivia and the girls talk about how good Amanda smells and her eyeshadow, and how they are the Three Muskateers with their dad. So heartbreaking. I especially love the little girls' accents.

2) When the first night they meet, Graham tells Amanda to close her eyes as he goes in to kiss her, and gently grazes each eyelid with a sensual kiss. She lets out the tiniest sound that makes this scene hit you hard in the pit of your stomach and wish your own husband was not 1200 km's away working out of town (that scene obviously required some rewinding action over and over).

Ok I Gave In And Watched

Now while I admit I was not an original 90210 follower (I watched all the reruns YEARS later), I did enjoy the plots and characters and thought it was very well written (for a teen show in the 90's). When I heard a newer version might be coming to TV, I was impartial to the thought.

But with all the hype of the "new" 90210 premiering, I decided to partake and give 2 hrs of my life to see what all the fuss was about.

PRO's:

-A lot of drama and stories were introduced in these first 2 hrs which kept me interested. Drugs,
stealing, sexual cheating, school cheating, teen rebellion, drunkeness, love triangles, a love-child, basically a whole bunch of goodies to choose from. Hmmmm, except some girl-on-girl action.
And I give it 1 month before a student and teacher fling emerges (then will come the charges of
harassment and he-said, she-said). So predictable, but still fun.

-I was pleasantly surprised with the strong and loving relationship between Lori Laughlin and
hubby. They seem really committed and I aplaud her for standing by her man amidst the news
of a child from his past. I think they are wholesome and bring sanity to the show.

-I love all the scenes with Kelly. I think she is so beautiful and she talks and makes the same
head movements just like her character on the original 90210. It's interesting to watch, and I
can't wait to find out who the father of her child is.....most likely Dillon.

CON's:

-This show is highly unrealistic (even for Beverly Hills standards). How do a photographer
and a Principal's salaries provide them with the house they have? Especially moving from
Kansas where house prices are nothing compared to California. In the last few scenes, it looks
like a 12 bedroom mansion with a pool and courtyard fit for Paris Hilton.

-The acting was very poor and overdone. ESPECIALLY Annie's. Her mouth movements annoy
me to no end. Especially when she is asked a perpetuating question, she opens her mouth
unsurely and moves her eyes around while saying "ah, oh, eehh, eh, uhh" I can't explain it but
she did it in almost every scene. I felt all the characters were "over acting" and trying too hard.

-A lot of the stoylines were unrealistic as well. No one from the popular group befriends the new

girl as quickly and with as much zeal as Naomi did to Annie. Most parents would not allow a
grandmother to say the things she did infront of Annie, especially coming from Kansas.

-The show had way to many commercials, I think the show was only 1 hr and commercials took up the rest of the time.

-Is it me or could Naomi pass for 30?

-I could almost predict what was going to happen in every scene and storyline, which made for a boring show when I knew what happened next, I know teen shows have to cover all the basics, but I would have thought the "new" 90210 (with such a huge hit behind it to back it up) would at least try to be original.

So in conclusion this show seems more like 9021 "oh no".

Even with my terrible review, I will still tune in next week, as I am now addicted to knowing what's going to happen with all the characters (my original fear of tuning in in the first place!).

You Have MY blessing

I know they've been together for a while now (considering the notorious stigma of "Hollywood relationships") but I am so happy for these two couples. So happy. That's all.

The Monokini Trend?

I absolutely LOVE this swimsuit I saw in a magazine a few weeks ago. I ripped out the page and have been searching the internet trying to find out who makes it. I fell in love with it on Jenny McCarthy (left) and finally today I found out that Victoria Secret makes it. (I should have known, VS always has amazing suits). I really like the back view and especially love the fact that this suit covers the areas I want (top breasts, front tummy, side hips), and exposes the areas I want (mega low cut cleavage, back). It's on sale now for $102 (down from $136).....should I make a trip over the border into Michigan to get it????

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

Other than Christmas, The Olympics are my favorite time of the year! While I do prefer the winter games, I still enjoy the summer games too.
I'm a fan of gymnastics, diving, and of course beach vollyball. I can't seem to understand how the vollyball players can communicate so well (with just 2 of them) to get the ball back over. On my beach vollyball team, we can hardly win a game with 6 of us!
I'm not keeping tabs too much on the standings, but it's always been a comfort thing for me to out Olympics on TV as background noise. I guess that goes back to when I was a pre-teen and I remember the winter Olympics were always on in the house. Ahh memories!

It Was ME, It Was ME!

Ok so remember that post I made about the Rascal Flatts concert I went to (and was front row) ?

Well there were certain parts at the concert where Gary and Jay would point at me and acknowledge me in the crowd. I found a youtube video of Bayfest, and the song where they pointed at me. Check it out!!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atldH2kN7Ow

The first line says "there's a silver-tongued blond trying to sweet talk her way back stage"......and Gary pointed at ME.....that's at 1:04 into the clip. (and Gary says "look at her, she is")

THEN, then next part Jay points at me is at 1:20 into the clip and the song says "there's a wet corvette-red lipstick print on a coors light cup" cause I was the only one who had a beer cup in the front row and I held up my coors cup so high, and beer tipped on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember these moments like they were yesterday and I am so stoked to find the video proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Home Ideas

Apparently hanging drapes all the way at the top of the wall is a way to make the ceiling appear higher. I absolutely LOVE the sepia tone pictures in a collage above the bed. This room has so much symmetry...and for a perfectionist like me....this is necessary.

I love the use of a vibrant color to accent one wall in each room.

Is this not the coolest laundry room you've ever seen?
These are just a few pics I found online. I figured I'd add them to my blog for easy reference when we buy our new home.

Do I Have To Come Down From My Cloud?

Wow! The concert was sooooo good on Saturday! A friend and I waited in line for 4 hours, when when the gates opened, we ran and got a front row spot THEN we had to wait another 4 hours until Rascal Flatts came on. During the wait, it started to POUR! I took off one of my tops and used it as a shelter for us. I guess a reporter for the local paper thought that was a pretty cool photo, so he took our pic, and put it in the paper! After 1 hour of rain, it dried up and the sun came out and wow did they put on a good show. Despite a few audio problems early on, they did their best and made it all worth the wait! My fav band member is Jay Demarcus and he was paying attention to me most of the night. There were even parts of a few songs where they pointed at ME, and I was in la la land. Half way through the show I started crying and he saw me and gave me a nod to acknowledge his appreciation. It was incredible. Then at the end of the show, he knelt down and tossed me his guitar pic! I screamed (yes I was a little crazy). It is even engraved with his name on one side and "Rascal Flatts" on the other. I cannot believe something like this happened to ME. Like I said in my earlier post, I've never had the opportunity to wait in line for great seats before (especially not for my favorite artist), so this meant so much to me. Even though I saw Rascal Flatts last year in a huge arena, nothing will top this personal experience.....which leads me to say "do I have to come down from my cloud?

Yay....It's Here!

I ordered the crazy Tom Cruise biography from the library a few months ago, and I completely forgot about it. Well, they called today and it has arrived.

Now I have a good read for my Saturday waiting in line for the concert!

I am so interested to find out if Tom really is as crazy as people say he is.....I don't doubt it.

99 Hours To Go!

My Fav band in the whole wide world is finally coming to our small town.
Yes...it's true....RASCAL FLATTS WILL BE PLAYING AT BAYFEST!

I've had my VIP tickets since they went on Sale April 15th, and I plan on getting to the park early on Saturday morning to be first in line. Even though these are VIP tickets (only a maximum amount of people allowed in this section, so it's not too crowded) I still want to be right up front against the stage.

I've never been one to line up for events or go crazy to get a good spot, but for these guys, it's worth wasting the Saturday sitting on the grass for 8 hours with my crossword book and ipod.
I know I'm not a 14 year old teenie bopper anymore, but this Saturday.....I'll fit in quite nicely with all the other girlies waiting in line....

Thank You Justin For Posting This

From http://www.mojointhemorning.com/ :

Justin Timberlake suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) - and the anxiety-based condition is taking over his life. JT says he is overly-obsessed with neatness and often spends hours making sure objects are lined up perfectly, but the stress that comes with the disorder is often debilitating. Plus, Justin said that he's also dealing with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Sufferers experience forgetfulness, hyperactivity, and are easily distracted. Justin claims he has managed to get his condition under control, but it still creates everyday challenges for him. He says, "I have OCD mixed with ADD. You try living with that. It's complicated."
I completely understand JT, I completely understand. Thank you.

It Wasn't Real!

A while back I posted a story about a wallet I had recieved through a friend. I questioned it's authenticity, and now I know it was fake. Reason #1, the front button popped off after 1 months use. Reason #2, when I took it to the leather shop to be repaired, the repair man laughed at me. He told me the repair would cost more than the wallet. And the repair was $11.00! (He was right).
Reason #3....ummm....Louis Vuitton store said so :(
But oh well, I will still stick the $10.00 wallet in my $996.00 bag!

What A Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My hubby bought me a R-E-A-L Louis!

Oh my goodness! He'd been bugging me to get one (I guess he felt for some reason that I deserved one) and I kept saying no no no. Well, he got a promotion yesterday, and this morning I woke up and decided "sure" let's go spend a mortgage payment.
I drove 1 hour with a friend to get to Troy, MI and wow was I in wonderland! Summerset Mall had every store! Coach, Gucci, Betsy Johnson, Max Azria, Juicy, Tiffany's, Louis Vuitton!
Stepping into the Louis Vuitton store was undescribable. All the sales people were so posh and proper. I didn't know if I should touch anything. I have been looking for weeks for the perfect bag, and I decided it was the Popincourt Haute. I inspected it and even the smallest imperfection I found the salesperson would deem the bag unsellable, and back to the shop it would go. After weighing my options (everything looks so different in person) that's what I walked out with.
My stomach was turning when we were in the store, and I almost didn't go through with it. But I gotta say......I bet when I walked in there with my 14.99 purse from Payless, and my 6.99 flip flops from Target....they never thought they would get a sale out of me.....I felt so important.

And I know this is probably so amateurish of me but...I touched a Herve Leger dress today! The Max Azria store caught my eye just as we were walking by, and there it was....the bandage dress. I would never try one on (I could tell the sales people were already wondering why I was in that store) but to actually feel them was incredible! They had everything from his Spring 08 collection (my fav). I just stared in awe.

I also realized today that I LOVE Betsy Johnson. Her party dresses are incredible!
This shopping trip to get a Louis turned out to be so fab! I felt in a fantasy land. This mall was so huge, and the high-society women walking around was almost laughable. Oh and not to mention the gangster "wannabe" pimps buying their "ho's" something special from Gucci....laughable.

*sigh* I am off to fill my purse (then call my husband -who works out of town- to tell him that I actually went through with it.....I don't think he knows how much they ACTUALLY cost)

It was a good day :)

Loving it!

This is the perfect dress for someone who loves their legs and hates their arms....aka...ME! J Lo wore this a few years ago and it's by Alberta Ferretti.

I love a good mini dress, especially one that gives some loose room in the tummy section too! If I raided a local thrift store, I could probably find something that looks remotely close....with a 70's style. Any chance I could just call up Alberta Ferretti and ask for a copy:)

Or I could take the advice of another blogger..."If you blog it, it will come"

Secret Twins?

This past Friday a friend and I went to see "The Happening" which starred Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel. It was such a waste of an evening and I will never get those 90 minutes of my life back. Throughout the movie I was thinking that Zooey Deschanel really looks familiar (I've only seen a few of her movies) and then it came to me...she looks exactly like Katy Perry. For those of you who DON'T know...Katy Perry is a new artist who sings that song "I Kissed A Girl". It's a very annoying song, but does have a catchy beat. I then went home and researched some comparasin photos of the two ladies, and they look like identical twins! See for yourself. Zooey is on the left, and Katy is on the right.

Dandelion Blush Set

I was flipping through In Style this weekend and saw this super cute blush box in an ad for Benefit Cosmetics. I've never heard of them before so I checked out their site benefitcosmetics.com. I absoultely love the idea of blush being in a cute box, but $28 is a little pricey for me. I like that it's a flat brush because I hate using a jumbo round one for blush. The hairs spread out from the pressure on your skin, and then ruin very easily. I might have to buy this and try applying blush using the "sweeping" technique.

Think THIS Is Cute?

Thanks so much to another blogger who posted this hilarious site. Soft baby heels!!!
http://www.heelarious.com/index.php
I myself just started getting an obsession with cute high heels in the last few years
and even though this idea is a little creepy, I would totally get a par of the "Ella" (shown below) for my new born daughter. I am gonna order a pair as soon as I find out I am having a girl.

DDR Diet

I have tried many diets......atkins, low carb, fatloss4idiots.com, flush the fat and low cal. I have only been able to lose 5 lbs with each one i try (after gaining the 5 back from the previous attempt) so now I am back on the low cal (sticking to under 1100 calories a day) and today I am adding the Dance Dance Revolution diet to it. I've read a lot about weight loss with this game, and I love how it can count the calories burned. I am borrowing the Mario version from a friend and I start my quest tonight.
I will keep you updated on my progress. I started my low cal diet on June 9th, weighing 165 lbs. Today June 13th I am down to 164 lbs!

My Love For Mediterannian Style Homes

My husband and I want to move in a few years, and we've very loosely talked about our mutual love for Mediterannian-style homes. I really like the two here but they are way too big for us. I think what draws me to this style of home is more so the red roof and yellow sides rather than the architecture itself. The first picture is my favorite because even though it's Mediterannian, it still feels a little country-tranditional with the cute porches on the side.

Boy Baby Room Ideas

If I DO have a boy, I really like these themes. Luckily for me, my mother sews so I think I'll ask her to make it all :) Although these are not as "peaceful" as some others, I love the dark rick brown and turquoise.

My New Shoes

I've never been much of a shoe hog but when walking through the mall last week, I saw these shoes that I just absolutely had to have! They didn't have my size but they special ordered them, and they should be in today!
$80 is a little more than I would spend on a pair of heels (since I rarely wear them) but I couldn't resist. Well, technically mommies bank account couldn't resist cause I used her card, tee hee. I bought the black ones.

Now I want them in pink too. I can just see myself all cute and pregnant in these adorable pink shoes! Hopefully my husband can too cause I'll have to explain to him why I have two pairs.

Is It Real?

Ok so...listen to this A-M-A-Z-I-N-G story. A friend of a friend ordered a sex chair (yes...a sex chair) from an online company who apparently gets their product from overseas sellers. When the postman delivered her box, she opened it up and there was an absence of a sex chair. Instead.....sneakily covered under garbage bags and wrap, were 20...count them...20 LOUIS VUITTON, CHANNEL, and GUCCI wallets!!!!!!!!!!! They were EACH in individual boxes, and inside the boxes they were wrapped in monogrammed tissue paper. In each box came an authenticity card, and care card. She freaked out and called her friend who called me. We went over and I got a Louis Vuitton wallet. Now, you have to understand....Louis Vuitton is my absolute FAV! I was so excited. I couldn't beleive it! I was shaking actually being able to hold and OWN one of these! Inside the folds of the wallet is stamped "made in paris", and the care card talks about Marc Jacobs and his new designs for Louis Vuitton. As soon as I got home I researched if this could at all be a fake....could it? From when the websites say, it seems real, and when you open the box and pull it out, the leather smell is sooooooo amazing.

I just feel too lucky for this to be real! Does anyone know how to FOR SURE tell? Would Louis Vuitton be offended if I went into their store and asked? I don't know what to do.

I almost felt like I shouldn't use it, but the pride I feel when I whip out my $600 wallet (for my $20 Wal-Mart purchase) is better than any feeling a sex chair could ever bring. She is well off and doesn't need the money, so she gave her friends the wallets at a price of $20.00 each!

So even though me and my friend are beaming over our wallets, the girl who ordered the chair is furious cause she wanted her chair! I guess the fact that she has over $10,000 worth of designer merchandise in her house doesn't matter. And to top it off...(which makes me think these items are definetly real) the company realized their mistake and have been sending her threatening emails demanding the product back! She's not going to return it, so things could turn ugly. This pic is exactly how my box came.....so is it real?

Love This Swimsuit

I've been noticing a lot lately that celebrities are sporting swimsuits that have tattoo designs on them. Denise Richards, Britney Spears, and Heidi Montag. They are all from "Ed Hardy" and his collection is awesome! Because I've gained 30 pounds in the last 2 years, I think I'll opt for the 1 piece cut out. He also makes sweats, tanks, and super cute long hoodies too.

The Bandage

Most celebrities and people in general usually have a fav designer. Well although I am not into fashion THAT much, I have found a designer in particular that I am in awe of. Herve Leger!
I was sitting on my front porch ready US Weekly (which is basically my 2nd Bible) and Christina Aguilera was wearing his dresses in all of her spreads. I fell in love with the so called "bandage dress". I could never fit into one of them myself (and still manage to look decent) but I immediately came inside and looked up his collection. I agree that his work is mostly for the pin-thin kind, but I still adore it! This has given me inspiration to find a fav designer of a more "couture" like collection.
